SAFE Green Food Powders are made from fresh, young shoots, organically grown in Australia in some of the richest soils in the world, and include Green Barley, Wheat Grass, Alfalfa and Spelt varieties. These tender shoots are harvested at a height of 20cm, when they have reached their nutritional peak. They are then processed by slowly drying at body temperature and milled into a fine soluble powder, thereby retaining the valuable properties. Absolutely nothing else is added (except for the kelp and brown rice in Green Barley Plus), unlike many other green barley and wheat grass juice extract products that contain additives such as maltodextrin sugars (some contain up to 25% maltodextrin & 20% cooked brown rice).
Since S.A.F.E Green Barley Powder is an organic, whole leaf powder, ground without the use of heat or friction, enzyme activity is retained. Research data continually indicates that Superoxide Dismutase levels are comparable or higher than those in other popular barley grass juice extracts. Soluble fiber from the leaf protects the nutrients and enzymes and prevents oxidization of the green food product.
